Dr. Caren Zilber-Shlensky, DO, CCFPOsteopathic and Family Medicine
A dancer throughout her life, Dr. Zilber-Shlensky was attracted initially to osteopathic medicine’s appreciation of the body as an integrated unit of interconnected parts, and which has inherent self-healing properties. As a physician, she embraces these principles while providing full-spectrum care to all members of the family, with a particular interest in women’s health and integrative medicine. Dr. Zilber-Shlensky incorporates traditional osteopathic manual (hands-on) medicine in many treatment plans, not only for specific musculoskeletal complaints, but also to optimize physiologic function of the entire body, including the respiratory, gastrointestinal and circulatory systems.
Dr. Zilber-Shlensky speaks French, Spanish and Indonesian, in addition to English. When not practicing medicine and mothering her toddler, she enjoys dancing, hiking, yoga, cooking, and discussing literature with her English professor spouse. |
Caren Zilber-Shlensky, DO, CCFP, is a US-trained doctor of osteopathic medicine with specialization in Family Medicine. In addition to receiving a full medical degree at Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she was named “Outstanding Student in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine” and “Outstanding Graduate DO,” Dr. Zilber-Shlensky pursued additional extracurricular studies in manual medicine, including Cranial Osteopathy and visceral manipulation. After medical school, she completed a three-year allopathic (MD) family medicine residency in Santa Rosa, California, which incorporated obstetrical, gynecological, pediatric, inpatient adult medicine and surgical training. The first Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine to receive full licensure for general practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia, Dr. Zilber-Shlensky is also a Certificant of the College of Family Physicians of Canada as well as a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine.
